French Fries have no place as a side dish here. They are strictly used as a condiment, restricted to the tops of salads and in the middle of sandwiches. The idea of a warm, crisp fry is too much to handle and most Pittsburgh-er's must seek-out instead a cold, starchy on the inside and soggy on the outside fry hidden in their food.
A working theory is that's how their mom's fooled them into eating their greens when there was no sleeve of crushed-up ritz crackers available to sprinkle on top.
